Taking about it, let's have a look at what content should absolutely not be like and what are the pleasing factors of good content!
The DON'Ts of Content Marketing
1. No to Technicality: To convert the customer into a client, it becomes so important to understand his competence and offer what he needs. The technicality in my offer may hamper the customer to fully grasp the sense of what I am trying to make. So it's always a good idea to avoid the technicality in the content.
2. Proofing it back: The errors in the content are what that really distracts the target audience. To shun this situation away, it is better to opt to proofread by someone before publishing it. It is anyway a safer side to check the content and eliminates the errors from it.
3. Failing to use the Keywords: The attempt to write content that doesn't consist of keywords is a straight way failure of content. The content should contain appropriate keywords which help in increasing the credibility of the content. Also, it should be noted the excessive use of keywords is not good and this too leads to failure of the content.
4. The Jargon Attachment: Being a professional, the love I share for jargon is not worthwhile when I write for the layman. One has to step down to the layman language when it comes to writing the content for customers. This helps the customer have a better understanding of products and services.
5. The Lettering Effect: The effect that my letters leave on the customers is enormous. The words, font, font size and way of writing make my customers stick to my content. Usage of good font and font size makes the reading experience of the customer great and my business increased.
6. Out of Place Highlights: A good content has the highlights of it in the form of bold, italics, underlined, etc. But, when the content contains out of the place highlights, say, many in number, not at the right position and lack of discrimination in highlights and ongoing content, reduces its credibility. And doesn't provide a handful of experience to the customer.
7. Undersized Text: While it's good to be very specific and precise in writing the content, it's not good to keep the text too small. The average size, i.e. not too big and not too small, provide a useful guide to the customer.
8. Poor Sub-headers: Sub-headings is a good ingredient of good content if used creatively. Nowadays, this is not used in the correct manner and which leads to poor content overall.
9. Let the readers have an opinion: Adding a conclusion to the content and making the readers believe in that conclusion is one big mistake nowadays. Let the readers form their own opinion. For you, the good idea is to leave your page with the link like the comment below, Buy the product, like us, etc.
10. The Spell Game: One mistake in one spelling ruins the entire content. Be very cautious about the spelling else you might land up in the situation that of Dan Quayle- "The Misspelled Potato".
After the Don'ts, the Do's comes in the way, let's have a look at it.
1. Focus on Headings: Eighty percent of people read only the headings and make an attempt to grasp from it that what content must have contained. Only the remaining read the full text. Know that regardless of how good your content is, most people will scan it quickly, hunting for what they want. Make the hunting easy with great headlines.
2. The beginning says it all: Conclude all the desired information in the beginning of the text. In case people stop reading somewhere, they can still get the gist of it. Keep your content precise and clear and provide maximum information in minimum words. Also, keep in mind to use understandable language.
3. Avoid Confusion: One confused mind can confuse all others. To avoid this embarrassing situation, it is important to be clear. The thoughts, words, and phrases used should be in sync. Else it will leave the reader unsatisfied.
4. Redundant Sentences: The repetition of sentences in a different language is a major avoidable factor. This forces the reader to switch to some other page.
5. The phrasing of Sentences: The sentences in the content are what it is all about. They have to be phrased with excellent grammar and should be in an active voice. This leaves a good impact on the reader.
6. Striking: Content with amusing elements and interesting facts, strike and excite the reader. The reading experience becomes enjoyable and easy.
7. Research: Before writing the content, it is always a good idea to research it and make you aware of what has existed in the past. The elements of history help in creating a new history.
8. Have your own approach: Once you have researched, take a few minute's time and fame in mind your own approach and a different perspective. This helps in creating newness in your content and helps you explore your creativity.
9. Know the Reader: Knowing and understanding the mind of the reader is one of the best tactics to make them stick with your thoughts and indeed writings. Be the reader's writer.
