The Five Rules of a Successful Content Strategy

Whether you are brainstorming and implementing your own content strategy, or working with the help of a third party, here are five of the most important rules of a successful content strategy.

Rule 1: Be clear
One of the main reasons that a strategy is ultimately unsuccessful is because its original aim is not clear and concise enough for its purpose. Having clear-cut objectives makes it far easier to set goals that ultimately help you achieve your aims, while also being easier to benchmark your progress and success.
Being inarticulate is a cardinal sin when it comes to content strategy, so ensuring that whoever is managing or leading the project has adept communication skills should be a prerequisite.
Rule 2: What is the message?
When devising a new content strategy, another important rule, even if you are enlisting the help of an expert company to assist, is to know exactly what the message to your audience is intended to be. This will depend on the target audience that you are trying to attract, and partly on the demographics of your current clientele.
Rule 3: Define the audience
Going hand in hand with developing the message that you intend to send is defining your target audience. It may be that you have an existing demographic of usual customers, but you are hoping to launch a new campaign in order to attract a different type of crowd, for example, younger, or older.
Depending on whom you are marketing to, this will change your strategy entirely, and can often be the difference between a successful campaign and an unsuccessful one. The more detailed and in-depth that you can define your intended audience, the easier it will be to work out how your content strategy can fit in with achieving your goals.
Rule 4: Accessible content
You can do the best planning available, but if your content is not easily accessible it could all be for nothing.
Part of your content strategy should be ensuring that your content can be found by your target audience with relative ease. One way of orchestrating this is to identify a number of different keywords and phrases that you wish to target, and writing content that fits in with these parameters.
Rule 5: Measurable goals
The last of the five rules for content strategy is to ensure that your plan is measurable, as without this you have no way of knowing if your plan is a success or not. This also loops back to our first rule, as if you have made a clear and concise strategy with easily identifiable goals, then it should be simple to measure your success against these.
Without measurable goals, it also makes it extremely difficult to justify to your organization or business that the work you are doing is worthwhile, as content marketing and content strategy can often be under-appreciated by those, not in the know.
Following these five rules will put you in great shape for developing an effective content strategy.

A Simple Way To Set Up And Run a Super Successful Blog

Wouldn't you just love to work from home running a really successful blog? Just imagine what it would be like to only work for an hour a day tapping at your keyboard writing blog posts that your followers are eager to devour so that you can earn money as a blogger.
So how do people make money blogging? And more importantly, how do they make a lot of money?
Well, all blogs are different because they're in different niches. But one thing they all have in common is that they contain blog posts that their readers not only love to read but are eager for them. And despite what you may think, writing blog posts isn't difficult.
In a nutshell, blog posts are nothing more than short (or sometimes long) articles. When a visitor comes to your website (or blog) and sees hundreds of articles, they instantly see you as an expert on your subject. And if you've written hundreds of articles on the same topic, then you probably are.
But first, you have to write all the articles and upload them. Initially, it will take time. But eventually, it will become almost second nature to you and as we all know, the more you do something the easier it is and the better you get.
So you begin by writing plenty of short articles for your blog, and if you write one a day, that's 365 a year. And some bloggers write more than once a day.
Naturally, your articles need to be interesting and entertaining so that your readers don't get bored. And after reading an article, they're looking for what they should do next. So if you provide an appropriate link to a product, they may click through and make a purchase.
Let's look at this in a bit more detail to see how it works.
Say you set up a niche website (or blog) and you choose a product to promote. You research and choose several keywords for that product. You then set to work writing articles based on your chosen keywords.
You upload most of the articles to your site, at a rate of one a day, and use the rest for marketing.
You then choose another product and more keywords for it. Then you set to work writing articles based on your chosen keywords.
You upload most of the articles to your site at a rate of one a day and use the rest for marketing.
You then choose another product and more keywords for it...
Do you see how this works?
Of course, there is a lot more to it, plus other ways to earn money from your blog if you want to be super-successful. But just starting this quick and simple way can produce fast results.
And once you start writing consistently, you'll soon have a site with hundreds of pages of content, a huge mailing list of subscribers, and you can use your articles as emails too.
Just make a start and you'll soon see how easy it can be.
If you can't afford to set up your own blog or you don't know-how, you can set up a simple, free blog.
